Let's Mentor Our Children
Here its all about children and the fantastic time they should be having in our schools......
My reflections for today ~
📙📘📕📗School is a fun adventure whose corridors of learning aren't a race to the finish line, but an exciting experience of acquiring useful information.
💡Imagine children who could have been good but withdrew due to the pressure received from their parents or school in one form or the other.
Think about it! It really doesn't have to be this way dear educators/care givers/parents.
We can make the change.
We can make the difference.
We can make learning fun.
I have three major magical tips and they are:
1) Welcome with a smile (all the time).
2) Show you sincerely care through the nature of you questions.
3) Try to solve every single problem they bring to you. (did I say every? ;-))
And this, my people, finally brings me to my main purpose for the reach out this morning......
Some people say mentors are for professionals who want to "up" their game or for startups who want to scale their business. Well, will it be news to you if I told you that from my experience in the classroom, I've found that children need mentors as well? Someone to look up to and urge them on or encourage them through tough and difficult times.
💡There are times when they struggle with abuse at home
💡Bullying by classmates
💡Probably they are slow learners and maybe have one learning difficulty or the other. Did you know that having someone to give you nice and encouraging words go a looong way in boosting their confidence, building foundational courage that they need now or even make a decision to contribute positively in class? Think about that for a moment.
These are for primary but what about secondary teenagers? They face a lot of challenges too!
📘They can't stand the math teacher.
📙Parents fight a lot at home and it has become a source of worry and distraction for the young adult.
📗Confusion in discovering their authentic self.... Pressure of "fitting in".
📕Wanting what some else has.
📒I'm not as good as.......
📘Sexual advances by a male or female teacher.
The list is loooooooong. I can assure you.
Others could be:
~ Parents are too busy.
~ Inadequate feeding
~ I am too short😊
~ I am too fat ...
Whatever the case may be: children need mentors and YOU as a modern day educator should be ready volunteers to check in on how these children are doing every "once in a while".
💕Ask how they are.
💕Tell them you notice they look a little "off" and you are wondering what could be happening to them in their lives
💕Assure and reassure them that they can say anything to you if they needed to talk.
💕Go out of your way to solve their concerns to a conclusive finish (remember, it's not about their parents but them).
🏆 Self confidence boost
🏆 They can find their voice through your consultations.
🏆 They can find themselves and gain more clarity in what lies ahead of them.
🏆 They look forward to growing and conquering.
🏆They know just what they want out of life.
🏆 They realize their opinions count.
🏆 Boosted self esteem.
🏆 More than abundant love to give to others because you did a fantastic job grooming and nurturing young minds with love.
The presence of a skilled and purposeful teacher/educator in the life of a child cannot be overemphasized. Just try to be present. Consciously. The result? You find out😊. Sharing educational tips with love.
Love is all we need.
Do have a blessed day ahead.
